This essay reflects upon the magazine TV Guide in relation and in contrast to television itself, suggesting that TV Guide might be seen as both a microcosm of and an antithesis to the televisual experience. Considering the differences between various media forms (print, film, television, digital media), their distinct ways of marking and conceptualizing temporality (as schedule or as `flow'), and their particular relationship and/or resistance to the archive (as `collectibles' or ephemera), it explores the possibilities for viewing, reading, and living within a televisual world.
