journal of visual cultureNotes on Screen TestingUniversity of California at Santa Cruz, ireneg{at}ucsc.edu
The Evergreen State College, Seminar 2, A-2117, Olympia, WA 98505, USA, jzay{at}evergreen.edu This essay considers screen testing by examining three cinematic and para-cinematic texts. Although quite different in terms of their form, context and application, these screen tests all function as a threshold, a point of relationship between a question and an answer. The authors consider the kinds of questions raised by screen tests and how these questions might be answered.
